Ode to Exams
The
exam fever is gripping nanganallurvasis which is discernible in many
spheres. The children who are frivolous and playful are calm and composed
.They look pensive and the parents look anxious. In many houses the
pranksters have become good children and are glued to their books.
The streets are forlorn and wear a desolate look . The streets are their
play grounds and the tar roads their cricket pitch. A stroll in the evenings
would confirm my observation.
Ranga an old man is yearning for his young companions as he plays games with
them. “I miss them a lot and am eagerly waiting for their arrival laughed”,
Ranga mischievously.
Working mothers have become household mothers. “I am on constant vigil and
do not allow my son to step out of the house even on holidays”, declares
Yamini who is on leave to teach her son. “We are fatigued after a hard day s
work and are unable to teach them that is the reason for our leave”, quipped
Hema echoing the views of the moms.
Chat corners are chasing away flies literally.
“Adolescents throng the fast food joints to eat pizza. Bhel
poori.pani poori ,ice creams etc and such outlets is teemed
with youth. Our business thrive only on children murmured”,
Rajesh who was preparing the bajji mavu. With all this I
over heard a septuagenarian complaining to his friend as to
how his mother refused to prepare tea in the night ,instead
she asked to drink a cup of hot water as a substitute for
tea. Kuppu was totally shocked to see the frenzied parents
during the exams. It looks as of they are appearing for the
exams.
Lord Hayagreevar has hardly any time to rest. He is the
god of knowledge and studies and his temple in the 2nd main
road is bursting at its seams .It is the nerve centre of
spiritual activity and the students of all ages hurriedly
enter the temple with a Tamboolam in their hand to perform
Archana to the lord. Parents and children pray for the
success and light a ghee lamp to appease the lord. While
students in the 10th and plus two sport a grimace the others
are happily circumvallating the temple . Mothers and grand
mothers take extra care to feed the child. There are school
authorities who perform a special Pooja there. What is it ?
