When one thinks about Krishna Sweets,
ghee-filled rich and pure Mysore Pak’s pop’s up in our mind. Krishna
Sweets who tried their maiden venture into starting a restaurant way
back in 2004 at Purusawalkam named Rasam have now started it in Mylapore
too! Says M.Murali, Managing Director of Krishna Sweets says, “What
started as a small shop by my father N.K.Mahadeva Iyer in Coimbatore has
now rose to bigger heights. As my father was then into the basic
restaurants format only, it was my wish to start Rasam at Purusawalkam.
Now we have chosen Mylapore as it’s a centre part and a convenient area
for all.”

With specialization into the Kongunadu belt, a lot of research has
gone into deciding the menu itself. Chef Jacob and his team have
discovered some of the ancient items and some of the rarest cuisines
which many of us wouldn’t have even heard have found a place here.
Cuisines of Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Palani, and Pollachi
have all been included. Rasam also has the usual Naan types, the dessert
types and Jain food sans Onion. They also claim their meals- Special
Kongunadu Thali, Regular Thali for lunch and Kongu Kathambam and North
Indian Thali for dinner priced at Rs.200 each to be mild and
comfortable. “We have used mild masala’s only not to make it too heavy.
This is our main attraction.”
So what are the rarest items here at Rasam? Arisi Paruppu Sadham,
Ilaneer Halwa, Tulsi Vada, Pallipalayam Biriyani, Vetrillai Poondu
Sadham, Paruthipaal Halwa and Karupatti Payasam with Coconut milk are
our exclusive ones. Not to forget, their special Mysore Pak is also
there!
Rasam can totally accommodate 60-65 people and their timings are
Breakfast- 8am to 11am, Lunch- 12pm to 4pm, and Dinner- 7pm to 11pm.
Rasam will soon be opened at Anna Nagar too by this month end.
If you want feast on some Kongunadu cuisines and get a value for the
money, Rasam is your place!
