This is about a common man who shared his experience on how he saved 90% of his medical expenses via Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra. The Jan Aushadhi programme was initiated under UPA government in 2008. After facing a downfall immediately, the Modi government has given this programme a fresh lease by committing to open 3000 outlets across the nation.

These outlets are dedicated to provide high quality Generic medicines at affordable prices for the poor.

Generic drugs are copies of brand-name drugs that have exactly the same dosage, intended use, effects, side effects, route of administration, risks, safety, and strength as the original drug. In other words, their pharmacological effects are exactly the same as those of their brand-name counterparts. Without the brand-name to advertise itself, they are available at lesser prices. With the aim of making generic medicines available to the public, to the poor largely, various steps are taken under this scheme. The quality of the medicines are tested by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories. The budget for generic medicines has been increased to Rs. 35 crores.

This common man, Dr Sanjeev Khanagar took it to the social media on how he saved the medical expense. Following are his proofs for the pricing difference. Please take a look and spread awareness.

We salute Dr Sanjeev Khanagar for bringing this up. And last but not least, a heartflet thanks to our Prime Minister Modi for this initiative!
