 ‘CD’ Mani, a notorious gangster, who had been absconding for three years, was arrested from Sriperumbudur, by a special team headed by joint commissioner of police. Mani had 28 cases against him.

Mani alias Manikandan was the most feared hooligan in south Chennai. He grew infamous as ‘CD’ Mani as he initially sold pirated DVDs in Teynampet in the 1990s.

Later, he joined forces with gangster Periya Mahesh. Mani was involved in eight murder cases and also helped many real estate businessmen settle deals through illegal means.

Mani has been detained under Goondas Act four times. He is involved in 15 attempt to murder cases and booked under Arms Act five times. He is acquitted in two cases, while five is pending trial.
