Edappadi meets farmers, assures demands will be met!

Chief Minister, Edappadi Palaniswami met the farmers who have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for 40+ days. He had a long coversation with Ayyakannu and others. He is at the capital to attend the NITI Aayog meeting along with the other Chief Ministers. 

  • The farmers are demanding Rs 40,000 crore worth drought relief package, farm loan waiver, and setting up of the Cauvery Management Board by the centre.



  • The Chief Minister assured that their demands will be met when he meets the Prime Minister and requested the farmers to call off their protest. 


  • He added that he has already discussed the issue with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and the Home Minister Rajnath Singh. He will meet the Prime Minister Modi today to submit the Memorandum. 


  • He also told that he will try to arrange a meeting for the protesting farmers with the Prime Minister. 


  • When the media asked Ayyakannu and others whether the protest will be called off or not, he said that he is happy that Chief Minister as come forward to meet the Prime Minister about the issue. If the farmers meet the Prime Minister directly, they will call off their protest immediately. 


  • However, if the meeting cannot be arranged but the Prime Minister accepts the Memorandum from the Chief Minister, the farmers will discuss among themselves to decide about the protest. 


  • Incidentally, the farmers assured that they will participate in the state wide bandh planned in the State.
