Kasturi on Sun TV : Show Review

Balaji Telefilms and their soap operas would be known even to kids who watch Hindi serials. But in south there are very few serials produced by this group. Their attempt to remake most of their successful Hindi shows to Tamil was a sheer failure when Vijay TV went in for their merger with Star. Then struck a brain wave for the production house to come up with a unique remake (sounds funny, right?)! Yes so was born Kasturi, a tamil serial aired by Sun TV weekdays evening 6.30 p.m . This serial have can be taken as a remake of an old blockbuster tamil movie Gopurngal Saivathillai.

Suhasini was the lead protagonist of the movie, whose character is played by Easwari Rao, a well known small screen actor. The story line is the same. Kasthuri is an innocent village girl (that uneducated, homely girl �). Kasthuri's husband (Ram) marries her due parental pressure, but he is in love with another girl Rekha who is from a rich family. Ram tries to wash off his responsibility of being her husband, but kasthuri takes all evil to be a faithful wife. At one stage he marries his love and Kasthuri also stays in the same house knowing the truth and acts as the maid of the house.

Ram plays double game and when the truth is out for Rekha to know that she was the second wife and Kasthuri is the legitimate wife, she even offers to move away from his life. Things worsen when Rekha's family comes to know of the truth. Kasthuri is pushed out of the house.

Ram's considerate parents disown their son for his deeds and take perfect care of Kasthuri and educate her. Slowly episodes move on and now Kasthuri is a bright computer professional running a software company (this can happen only in TV soaps!), and no need to say, her growth has stooped Ram's growth. Ram has also developed problems with his present wife, Rekha�

Though the flow of the story is much on the predicatable lines, the suspense keeps audience glued on to watch this soap. Forth coming episodes will explain the marital state of Kasthuri! Will she get back to Ram forgetting his misdeeds or marry someone else and live happily ever after?
