Kamaraj and Nehru were travelling by car via Virudhunagar for a function in a Southern District. Kamaraj noticed a woman among the crowd and waved his hand. Nehruji noticed this and asked him who that lady was. "She is my mother", said Kamaraj. Nehru had the motorcade reversed, got down and approached the woman. Holding her hands, Nehru told her,"I am proud to meet the woman who gave birth to my 'great' Kamaraj".....
A young man came to Thirumalai Pillai road. He showed a piece of paper to Kamaraj. "Grandpa, I had applied for a seat in MBBS. They wanted me to put in a word to you", he said. Kamraj went through the application. He found his name and address there. He taunted the youth for mentioning his name. "They wanted my Madras address. This house is my Madras address", he replied.
