Oh Daniel, Let Your Tribe Increase!

Kindness is not the monopoly of any one class or clan. It is universal. As someone said, love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless the giver as well. .That is what one learns from the act of kindness of a rickshaw puller of Chennai.

Daniel Thomas, a poor rickshaw puller donated the eyes of their third son Emmanuel, who died of a congenital heart disease. Emmanuel was found to have an anomaly in his heart when he was six months old. Even at the age of two, he couldn't walk or talk normally. Daniel makes just Rs One thousand per month and could not afford the cost of the surgery. With great difficulty, Daniel and his wife Selvi collected over a lakh of rupees for their child's heart surgery. Emmanuel underwent the surgery on April 1. However he couldn't survive it for long. On Monday, April 7th, he passed away.

The poor parents decided to donate his eyes as he would be of use to society after his death. Since charity from several well wishers had made the surgery possible, they wanted to repay it this way. What a noble thought!

Dalai Lama had rightly said, This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.

Oh, Daniel, let your tribe increase!
