After a long day’s work, would you not want to indulge in something you are passionate about. A hobby, that is what it is called; a complete recharge, an interesting and relaxing activity and not to forget a completely productive one too. For some it is the good old gardening, for some it is bikes and cars, for some writing, blogging, fishing and cooking. But for some enthusiastic Chennai-ites it is the most expressive and artistic photography.

A group of young and old from Chennai on the famous photography site Flickr have formed a group called ‘The Chennai Photowalk’ and organize monthly photo walks to places in and around the city reliving its past and documenting it in diverse forms. A group that is synonymous to energy, enthusiasm, zeal and passion; they have been walking their way to places in Chennai giving it an all new perspective from the lens’ eye.
After successfully completing 19 photo walks in the city, this group is planning its 20th photo walk with all its members. This has been a regular affair and people on the roads of Chennai often get baffled to see ten cameras pointing at them in different angles, if they are found doing interesting and uncommon actions. Mount Road, Pudhupet, Besant Nagar, Theosophical Society, city markets, they have covered almost all places in Chennai only retracing their daily routes, but with more observation and awareness this time. Some of the most beautiful and the most remarkable photographs of this city brimming with culture, art, music, heritage and architecture have been taken on these very eased out, rather exciting photowalks.
So, if any of you want to discover your love for the city, or just some hidden photographer within you, create a profile on Flickr.com and log on to http://www.flickr.com/groups/chennaiphotowalk/ follow the discussions and most important of all, land up with your camera on a lazy Sunday morning to enjoy the fun filled photo walk, with a group so vibrant and full of energy.
