Honourable Rajya Sabha MP Ms. Kanimozhi officially launched ‘Paalam Publications’ recently) at South Indian Film Chamber. With this launch Paalam Publications dedicated itself to introducing Indian vernacular literary works to European languages and vice versa.

As a part of the inauguration, a Tamil novel ‘Thiru – Chithira – Sathir’ authored by Mr. Arvind Appadourai and its English version `Dancing Image’ were released. Poet Tamizhachi Thangapaandyan released the first copy of ‘Thiru – Chithira – Sathir’ and was received by S.M. Vasanth, Film Director.
Vice Chancellor of Tamil University, Tanjore, Mr. M. Rajendran released the first copy of its English version - Dancing Image - that was received by SA. Kandasamy, Writer and Winner of the prestigious Sahitya Academy Award for literature.
Followed by the release, Writer Prabanjan, who is also a Winner of Sahitya Academy Award, made his introductory remarks on ‘Thiru – Chithira – Sathir’ and read few pages from both the English and Tamil versions of the book for the audience.
‘Thiru – Chithira – Sathir’, is a Tamil novel that dwells on trials and tribulations of artistes who live in the artistes’ village of Cholamandalam.
The publication house also seeks to publish books on fine arts and will also represent Indian literature in all the major book exhibitions around the world, thus providing a platform for upcoming writers.
Arvind Appadourai, is a Chennai-born artist now settled in France. Mr. Appadourai has strong interest in theatre, Tamil and French literatures, he had developed and introduced ‘Salambakam’, a new form of literary work, in Tamil. He studied theatre in Sorbonne University, Paris-III, and acted in many plays and also conducted painting exhibitions in France.
