Bindu Art school students showcased their artistic creativity and celebrated Deepawali with Marriott associates and Ms. Padma Venkataraman; the International Humanitarian Award winner 2009 which recognizes extraordinary humanitarian services conducted primarily in the field with underserved populations,

As a part of the “Spirit to Serve” initiative of the Marriott group, this Deepawali, the Associates of Courtyard by Marriott, Chennai, marked the celebrations of the season with the Bindu Art School students. The Leprosy-affected students made special paintings for the occasion and exhibited them in their workshop. Ms. Padma Venkataraman interacted with Marriott Associates to explain and inculcate how one can imbibe the Art of Living and look beyond what is considered to be a social stigma and do something worthwhile in the society.
The Associates of Courtyard by Marriott helped clean the residence of the Art students, who described the significance of their paintings enthusiastically. Courtyard by Marriott has been working closely with Ms. Padma Venkataraman and the School to raise funds with the help of guests for such efforts.
Mr. Karan Berry, General Manager of Courtyard by Marriott says, “I am proud of the students of Bindu Art School whose paintings portray sheer creativity and hard work. They can be a part of the mainstream society as anybody else. This CSR initiative undertaken by the associates of Courtyard by Marriott, Chennai is aimed at creating awareness among societies of varied affluence that the Leprosy-affected students of Bindu Art School are not to be underestimated, but rather given recognition for their hidden talents.”
The Art students were elated with the Deepawali celebrations and exchange of sweets, restoring the atmosphere with laughter and joy.
