Agada Diabetes Care, an upcoming world class Medical Center in T.Nagar , Chennai, was formally inaugurated by Dr.K.Rosaiah , Governor of Tamil Nadu. The center, spread over 25,000 sq.ft on 5 floors, is promoted by Dr. Mohan Thanikachalam in association with the Joslin Diabetes Centre, an Affiliate of Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA to provide the citizens of Chennai with world class diabetes care and treatment.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohan Thanikachalam, Founder- Director, ADC, said “ it is well known that India is the Diabetes capital of the world, and many prestigious institutions are working hard in fighting against this epidemic. However, access to healthcare is still a challenge, patient seeking medical help always happens when the disease has progressed extensively. In a study conducted by our group, the most alarming truth was that many patients were neither aware of the implications of adherence nor were adherent enough to the treatment plan. We realized that improving access to health care and increasing patient motivation to follow treatment plan would be the key to conquer diabetes. Agada hence has a two point agenda - to increase patient access to healthcare and to improve patient adherence to treatment plan."
Dr.Mohan explained that Agada Care would mean a constant partnership with patients and doctors in the community. This healthy partnership would work with a single minded goal of managing diabetes and preventing its complications through evidence-based treatment protocols. Agada care involves unique components such as Agada Empower – A World class diabetes education program, in collaboration with the world leader in Diabetes Management and treatment, Joslin diabetes Centre, Boston, USA., Agada Progress – Continuous follow up and motivation of patients through email and telephone, utilizing innovative technologies, Agada Impact - A process of measuring outcomes of treatment and constantly improvising for better results and Agada Connect – An interactive web and mobile platform to maintain a constant communication with patients.
